Just came across this piece of information and made me thinking whether Indians are so tolerant or is it that our political class just does not care anymore for the man on the street. read for y/self.

Few random thoughts...

First the fuel price hike and Cong master stroke

While the Cong ruled states have decided to forego the additional sales tax collection on the hike imposed by the Centre, other state govts are still thinking. I may be wrong but do get a feeling that this so called master stroke by Cong was preplanned!!!

Whatever happened to the Left parties and Left ruled states..WB / Kerela??? Their logic...its a hike imposed by Centre and unless centre rolls back the hike we will not reduce the sales tax/vat collection. So much for the AAM AADMI.

That brings me to a related topic...my friends in Mumbai will vouch for this ...whenever fuel prices are increased in the city....overnite the new fare charts for Taxi/Auto are prepared and are out in the hands of commuters the next morning. Why cant Delhi Govt do the same...why wait until the hapless(???) auto/taxi guys go on strike. Maybe the Govt is in tacit understanding with these autowalas so that the poor commuter can be fleeced...not that they dont overcharge when fares are revised also.

With football world cup currently on, how can one not think aloud about India and world Cup. The official website of AIFF very proudly proclaims that India's world ranking has improved from 127 to 118....thank God for small mercies. But Mr Priya ranjan dasmunshi, you have been at the helm of AIFF affairs since 1988, is there any accountability anywhere or are you also as thick skinned as KPS Gill, the president of Indian Hockey Fed.

Reservations for OBCs

God help us..... can we have reservation in parliament upto 50% for MPs who are eduacted (at least Graduates) and of sound mind (I know its asking for a bit too much) rather than idiots who are willing to do anything stupid just to further their own cause.

Mr Arjun Singh, its a great idea to uplift the OBCs and backward classes...no issues. But lets start at the basics...how about strengthening the basic and primary education system in the country. By all means have reservations for OBCs, SC & STs. Infact what crime have the economically weaker sections of the society done....please reserve a few seats for such poor souls also. But then you will need to set up schools with some permanent/semi permanent structure, at least a few black boards, books and a few teacher who would actually come to school and teach rather than ghost teachers whose names appear on the pay rolls but have never come near schools to teach.

I know you have difficulty in walking, but maybe your fleet of cars can take you around Delhi and you can have a first hand look at the state of most of the primary and secondary schools run by the Govt. While there, you may also like to look at the pass percentage of these schools. If the reality sucks in the national capital, you can imagine the plight of students in smaller towns. ...I dread to even think about the situation in rural areas.

Mr Singh, the young students of this country really need your help....can you first ensure that they get primary education before trying to reserve seats in IITs and IIMs.

Imagine a situation where all kids are given cumpulsory education till 12th ( free for economically weaker sections!!!! not SC/ST/OBC basis). Post their 12th, let all of them compete...why reservations at all..........

But there is a problem in this scheme.....how will you get your votes?????

BTW...should kids of say Ram Vilas Paswan, Sharad Yadav, Jagjivan Ram, etc etc continue to enjoy the benefits of reservations.....poor guys are so backward!!!!!!!!!!

Catch the main culprits

Who is being made to suffer from these demolitions....people who have bought / leased legitimate buildings with all approval. But the guys who laughed all the way to the Bank are roaming scot free.

Who started it all...the corrupt builder, corrupt MCD officials, Police, politicians, plethora of other Govt. agencies who took their cut and let the buildings come up...gave electricity, water connections and other clearances.

Yes, by all means we need to demolish these illegal structures but how about penalizing and putting in jail the corrupt officials. Why not seize the assets of these corrupt officials and pay the legitimate owners of these demolished structures for their loss!!!
